When to call us as an emergency
Some roof problems can wait until morning. Some can't. If any of these apply, call us now on 07930 965629:
- Active water coming through the ceiling
- Tile, slate or large piece of roof on the ground
- Visible hole in the roof from the outside or daylight from the loft
- Storm damage with structural concerns
- Tree fallen onto the roof
- Damaged ridge tiles flapping or about to come down
- Lead flashing torn or lifted in high winds
If your situation isn't an immediate threat — say, a slow drip in a corner of the loft, a slipped tile that's safely held, or some lifted ridge cement — that's still a job we want to know about, but it's not strictly an emergency. For those, daytime hours and a normal call-out work fine.
What to do while you wait
If water is coming into the property, here's what helps until we arrive:
- Move belongings, electronics and furniture away from the affected area
- Place a bucket or plastic tray directly under the leak — line with a towel to absorb splash
- If safe to access, put a small hole in the bulging part of a wet ceiling — controlled release prevents a bigger collapse
- Turn off electrics in the affected area if water is anywhere near light fittings or sockets
- Don't go on the roof yourself — wet roofs are dangerous and you can make the damage worse
- Take photos of any visible damage from ground level (useful for insurance)
What we do when we arrive
Our priority on emergency calls is stop the water. The full repair can wait. We'll typically:
- Inspect from ground level and from inside the loft if safe to access
- Identify the source — often metres away from where the leak is appearing inside
- Apply a temporary fix — tarpaulin cover, emergency sealant, replacement tile if we can do it safely
- Take photos and document the damage (helpful for insurance claims)
- Schedule a return visit for the full permanent repair, usually within a few days
- Hand you a written estimate for the permanent fix
The emergency call-out is paid in full when we attend. The permanent repair (if needed) is quoted properly and paid only when complete and you're satisfied. No deposits.
Storm damage and your insurance
Most home insurance policies in the UK cover storm damage, but the claim process can be a nuisance. We help where we can:
- Photo and written documentation of all damage at the time of the call-out
- Detailed written estimates in the format your insurer will want
- Direct correspondence with insurance assessors where requested
- Honest assessment of pre-existing wear vs storm damage (some insurers try to argue, and our assessment from a registered company carries weight)
What emergency call-outs cost
Typical Worcestershire emergency repair costs:
- Standard emergency call-out + temporary fix: £200 – £450
- Tarpaulin cover for serious damage: £350 – £600
- Out-of-hours call-out (evenings, weekends): add £80 – £150
- Full storm damage repair (after temporary fix): £400 – £2,500 depending on extent
We don't charge cowboy prices for emergencies. The figures above are honest and typical. The temporary fix on the day plus the full repair is almost always cheaper than letting damage get worse overnight.
