This project involved a full strip and recover of an aging pitched roof on a residential property in Worcestershire. The owners had been experiencing recurring leaks and slipped tiles, and our initial inspection showed the underlay had perished across most of the roof, with significant batten failure underneath.
Rather than continue with patchwork repairs that wouldn't last, we recommended a complete refurbishment: strip out the old covering, inspect and replace failed timber, lay new breathable underlay, fit new treated battens, and re-cover with replacement tiles. The chimney also needed lead flashing replacement and pointing — common on roofs of this age.
The work took just over a week, including a day for scaffolding setup. Photos below show the project at every stage — strip-out, exposed structure, new underlay and battens, re-tiling, ridge and lead work, and the finished result.
